On February 17, a meaningful evening dedicated to the greatness of the art of kuy took place at the Ukili Ybyrai Akmola Regional Philharmonic. The concert entitled Tribute to the Great Kuyshi, dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the outstanding composer and People’s Artist of the Kazakh SSR Dina Nurpeisova, was presented by the K. Kumisbekov Kazakh Folk Instruments Orchestra and gave the audience a powerful spiritual uplift.

Throughout the evening, the rich legacy of Dina Nurpeisova — an outstanding representative of Kazakh musical art and a disciple of the great composer Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly — was widely celebrated. Her original compositions *Toy Bastar*, *Kerbez*, *Ol altynshy zhyl* (That Sixth Year), *Zhenis* (Victory), *Segizinshi Mart* (Eighth of March), *Asemqonyr*, *Ottin dauren* (Your Time Has Passed), and *Nauysqy* gained renewed expression in the orchestra’s performance and deeply moved the audience. In each kuy, one could clearly feel the fate of the people, a mother’s heartbeat, the voice of the era, and the spirit of the nation.

The guest of the evening was the distinguished kuyshi and international competition laureate Daryn Kudaibergenov. He brilliantly performed Dina’s *Zhiger* (Strength) and Kurmangazy’s *Terisqaqpai*, leading listeners into the mysterious depths of the kuy world.

In addition, the audience enjoyed Dina’s treasured works *Tartu salemdeme*, *Kogentup*, *Qara qasqa at* (The Black-Blazed Horse), *Bulbul* (Nightingale), *Sauynshy* (The Milkwoman), *Domalatpai*, *Baizhuma*, and *Kui anasy* (Mother of Kuy), performed as solo pieces by Almas Omarov, Bauyrzhan Bolat, Arman Makenov, Kairbek Karbaev, Samal Aubakirova, Ainabek Orazaly, “Excellent Worker of Culture” Abilserik Kamashev, and Bauyrzhan Baltin.
