On April 20, the memorial evening «Көкшенің айбозы – Қажыбай!» dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Qajybay Zhakhin — a native of the Kokshetau region and a prominent representative of Kazakh traditional singing art — was held.

During the evening, songs from the singer’s repertoire and works of the Arqa singing tradition, an important part of Kazakh musical heritage, were performed. The audience once again remembered the artist whose powerful voice, distinctive style and expressive performances won the hearts of listeners.

The concert featured Қазақстанның еңбек сіңірген әртісі Qapash Qulysh, Қазақстанның Халық әртісі Ramazan Stamğazy, Қазақстанның еңбек сіңірген қайраткері Aitbek Nygyzbayev, winner of the I Republican Traditional Singers Competition named after Qajybay Zhakhin Bauyrzhan Nurmukhan, «Мәдениет саласының кәсіподақ үздігі» Särsenbay Khasenov, recipient of the «Халық алғысы» medal Zhanat Yesov, and laureate of republican competitions Zamzagul Smagulova.

A special moment of the evening was the performance by the singer’s son, Kenzhebay Qajybayuly, who emotionally performed D. Quykas’s song «Менің әкем».

The evening also featured performances by the folklore ensemble «Айнакөл» and the dance ensemble «Гәкку». In addition, the audience enjoyed a traditional kui competition performed by Bauyrzhan Baltin and Sayat Babav.
