On April 14, a concert titled “120 Years to the Two Great Figures of Kazakh Music” was held, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of composer, musicologist, conductor, academician, Қазақ КСР Халық әртісі Akhmet Zhubanov and composer, Қазақ КСР Халық әртісі Latif Khamidi.

The program featured the Kazakh Folk Instruments Orchestra named after Kenzhebek Kumisbekov and Philharmonic ensembles. Throughout the evening, outstanding works by Akhmet Zhubanov and Latif Khamidi were performed, reflecting their immense contribution to the development of professional Kazakh music.

The concert opened with Zhubanov’s “Bi kui,” performed by the Kazakh Folk Instruments Orchestra named after K. Kumisbekov and the “Gakku” dance ensemble.

The program continued with excerpts from the opera “Abai” — a suite, the arias of Aidar and Azhar, and “Toy bastar,” performed by the orchestra and chamber choir, as well as Serikbolsyn Bekmoldin and recipient of the state award “Shapagat” Ayakoz Kalmaganbetova.

Zhubanov’s “Karlygash” and Khamidi’s “Zhaylaum baksha zhaynagan” were performed by «Мәдениет саласының үздігі» Valeriya Bolieva, while Khamidi’s “Bulbul” and “Kazakh Waltz” were performed by Қазақстанның еңбек сіңірген қайраткері Zhamilya Zharkymbayeva.

Instrumental solos enriched the evening: “Koktem” was performed on the bass kobyz by Talgat Rashid, and “Aria” on the prima kobyz by Saida Rashid.

The concert became a tribute to national culture and a celebration of a great musical legacy.
