On April 20, a press conference dedicated to the life and artistic legacy of outstanding singer and native of Kokshetau Qajybay Zhakhin was held as part of the memorial evening «Көкшенің айбозы – Қажыбай!», marking the 60th anniversary of the artist.

The event brought together Қазақстанның құрметті журналисі, ақын, жазушы-журналист Bayqal Baiädil, professor Säbit Jämbek, ақын Serik Zhetpisqaliyev, Қазақстанның еңбек сіңірген әртісі Qapash Qulysh, Қазақстанның Халық әртісі Ramazan Stamğazy, Қазақстанның еңбек сіңірген қайраткері Aitbek Nygyzbayev and «Мәдениет саласының кәсіподақ үздігі» Särsenbay Khasenov. The speakers shared their memories of the singer, spoke about his artistic journey and highlighted his contribution to Kazakh traditional music.

During the meeting, special attention was given to the traditions of the Arqa singing school and its prominent representatives — Birzhan sal, Aqan seri and Ükili Ybyrai. The participants noted that Qajybay Badyquly Zhakhin became a достойный successor of this rich musical tradition.

The guests also recalled his years of study in Almaty, where he was a student of Qairat Baibosynov and Zhanibek Kärmenov. Particular attention was paid to his performance of Birzhan sal’s song «Айбоз», which earned him wide recognition and the name «Көкшенің Айбозы».

Returning to his homeland in 1989, Qajybay Zhakhin devoted his life to preserving and promoting Kazakh traditional song heritage, leaving a significant mark on the national culture.
